Catavento was contacted by Eletrobras to elaborate and conduct an online presentation for Directors and technical specialists on the impact of COVID-19 in the oil and gas sector. The presentation was structured in three main chapters, them being: global context, perspectives for recovery, and the Brazilian panorama.

In the global context, Catavento analyzed the impacts of the pandemic on oil supply and demand, including lockdown measures and the response by main the main productive countries. The particularities of the North American context, where the abrupt fall in demand sparked high levels of stock and deterioration in oil barrel prices, were also analyzed.

In conclusion, the impacts of the pandemic on the national energy sector were considered, specially in the oil and gas, and power sectors. The main measures promoted by the sectors in this new context were analyzed, as well as the main challenges and opportunities in the short- and medium-term.
