The presentation was based on the mapping of long-term energy trends , highlighting the relevance of climate change for the business sector and its increasing presence on the global agenda. After a brief explanation about the global warming phenomenon, the energy’s sector role and the challenges of the transition, Catavento discussed  the factors that will influence this transition, such as: GDP and energy demand decoupling, global agreements and commitments and market forces. Finally, Catavento showed the position and initiatives of the leading companies of the O&G sector, through a brief strategic analysis of their performances considering climate change

In May 2017, Catavento conducted a new presentation for Petrobras’ Strategy team, bringing new insights from Clarissa Lins’ trip to Europe in late March, where she was part of conferences held by the IEA and KAS. The discussion focused on: the challenge of universal access to modern energy sources; energy transition’s momentum, with its challenges and opportunities; and changes in the investment environment that stimulate the agenda, such as carbon pricing and investors pressure for climate risks transparency.

Catavento believes that this kind of initiative with top management helps to expand the company’s strategic vision, as well as stimulate the debate of executives and advisers regarding important themes to the business’ long-term success.
