At the end of 2013, the Working Group of the Empresas Pioneiras in Sustainability Reporting, coordinated by the Focal Point Brazil GRI, CDP, and CEBDS and organized under the Brazilian Monitoring Committee of the Integrated Reporting, held a series of meetings with a set of companies in order to discuss challenges and opportunities in reporting practices. The overall objective was to outline trends and challenges in the integration of financial information and sustainability from the perspective of companies and specialists.

In this context, Catavento coordinated a workshop held in Rio de Janeiro in October 2013, addressing the theme “challenges in integrating sustainability management”. According to Clarissa Lins and Leonardo Bastos, the main challenge to be overcome by the sustainability agenda in business is to no longer be considered a wagon but to guide the locomotive. This necessarily involves the steps of (i) aligning with the company’s vision; (Ii) incorporating the language of business and (iii) integrating sustainability into the company’s business strategy.
