Catavento contributes to G20 discussions on the energy transition

April 2024

Catavento organized rountable under the G20's Energy Transitions Working Group

Under Brazil’s G20 Presidency in 2024, the Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) is a pivotal forum for discussions on the global energy challenges. The ETWG focuses on (i) accelerating financing for energy transitions, particularly in emerging markets and developing economies, (ii) addressing the social dimensions of this transition, and (iii) exploring innovative perspectives on sustainable fuels.

To enrich discussions on financing, The Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) – part of the Organizing Committee of the T20 – and Catavento Consultancy hosted the roundtable “Scaling up Financing for the Energy Transition” on March 26, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro, which also counted on remote connection. The meeting convened distinguished experts from the energy and finance sectors, alongside executives actively pursuing the approval of low-carbon energy projects with adequate risk-return profiles.

The insights obtained during the session were consolidated and presented at the 2nd meeting of the G20 ETWG, which took place in Brasília on April 15, 2024, with the aim of bringing insights and recommendations from think tanks and the private sector to the group’s discussions.
