The Brazilian National Agency for Petroleum and Biofuels (ANP) recently organized a workshop, focusing on the pivotal theme of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). The event brought together leading energy consultants such as S&P Global and Rystad Energy to delve deeper into this topic. In this context Catavento, represented by its partners Clarissa Lins, Bruna Mascotte, and Pedro Guedes, was honored to contribute with a presentation focused on our view on this topic.
Our inputs aimed at providing a comprehensive overview of the global CCUS landscape, shedding light on the potential uses and competitive dynamics within the realm of carbon capture, utilization, and storage. Furthermore, we zoomed in on Brazil’s unique position, highlighting the nation’s potential to become a pivotal player in the energy transition.
The interplay between carbon markets and CCUS technologies was also examined. Both regulated and voluntary carbon markets were addressed, with a focus on their recent evolution, key differences among each other, and how they can leverage the competitiveness of CCUS.
Our participation in this workshop allowed us to not only share our expertise but also to learn from a key stakeholder for the Brazilian energy sector such as ANP. Catavento believes in collaborative efforts to tackle the challenges of today and pave our energy transition towards a decarbonized future.
