During event promoted by the Brazilian Center for International Relations - CEBRI , Catavento organized specialists’ panel to discuss the significance of COP21
In December 2015, sustainability and climate changes specialists were gathered by CEBRI to discuss the outcomes of COP21. The Paris Agreement, signed by 195 countries, represented a milestone in climate negotiations and set out the ambition to control the rise in temperature related to climate change by up to 1.5 ° to 2 ° C.
Experts were unanimous in considering as successful the direction given by the governments, even though only the agreement implementation will be able to dictate the transition pacel. “The climate agenda switched from a mainly environmental scope to a greater focus on multilateralism”, said Clarissa Lins.
The specialists invited were Branca Americano, from Climate and Society Institute, Fabio Scarano, from the Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development, Eduardo Viola, University of Brasilia’s professor, Marcelo Vieira, from the Brazilian Rural Society, Rodrigo Lima, from Agroícone and Laudemar Aguiar, representing the Rio de Janeiro city government.
