What are the main perspectives and trends for the energy sector?

NEWS

On September 4, the Fórum do Amanhã, in partnership with the Brazilian Center for International Relations – CEBRI, promoted an online event on the future of energy. Clarissa Lins, founding partner at Catavento, participated in the debate together with Cristopher Vlavianos, founder and President at Comerc Energia Group, and José Luiz Alquéres, civil engineer, former President at Eletrobras, Light and the Commercial Association of Rio de Janeiro. The event followed a dynamic question and answer format, moderated by José Luiz Alquéres.

The event focused on the main trends that influence the energy sector, both globally and in Brazil. Clarissa Lins pointed out that the sector has already experienced different energy transitions in its history and that these, in turn, have shaped social and economic development. She pointed out, however, that the current transition has distinct particularities, being characterized by  a greater participation of renewable energy sources, which contain lower energy density, and driven by the need for decarbonization. Finally, Clarissa highlighted that the energy mix of the future, especially in Brazil, tends to count on the participation of several energy sources.

During the event, electrification, new technologies, such as hydrogen, and the role of natural gas in the energy transition were also discussed.

The full event is available on  Youtube (Portuguese only).
